Configuration
Hardware Configuration: See this page for basic information on how to set up your hardware. If you require additional information, please refer to your modem/router documentation or manufacturer's website.
Note about PPPoE DSL: Windows XP and Macintosh OS X have built-in (native) PPPoE. Do not use PPPoE software such as WinPoET/MacPoET on these operating systems. In addition, the Westell 517 and 2100 modems have built-in PPPoE and PPPoE software is NOT required for these modems. Alternative PPPoE software includes RAS PPPoE for Windows.

Tip: Try OS or Software Help! Check the CD that came with your DSL modem or router for help. Try Windows built-in help and troubleshooters! Click Start and select Help. In addition, most SOFTWARE includes built-in HELP that can provide valuable information - how to perform a task, where to find a feature and how to use it, how to set options and resolving problems. Look for "Help" on a program's menu. See The Troubleshooting Process - Basic Steps for some suggestions on how to attack a problem and discover a solution.
Troubleshooting
Resolving DSL Problems
- Authentication: If you are receiving username and password errors, such as Error 691 or Error 718, or have problems connecting, see DSL Authentication Errors.
- Sync: See DSL Link not Established for information on how to determine if the modem is in sync and some troubleshooting steps you can take if the modem is out of sync.
- Routing: If you have a connection to the Internet but cannot load web pages or access email or news (i.e., you cannot route), see DSL Connection is not Routing for some troubleshooting steps that may resolve the problem. Note that the Westell 2100 firewall settings may result in problems using AOL instant messenger and similar programs. See the top of the Westell 2100 configuration page for how to change the settings or disable the firewall.

Help us help you! If you contact Expedient support for assistance by submitting a case online by logging in to myExpedient or contacting us by phone, please write down any error messages you receive. Include the name and version of your operating system, indicate whether or not you use PPPoE DSL, the status of the LEDS on your DSL modem and the exact text of all error messages. This will greatly speed up the troubleshooting process if this information is included. Note: Please powercycle your computer and DSL modem/router. This, alone, may resolve the problem you are having.
