Ethernet Configuration for Windows 2000
Before configuring your computer, please be sure you have the operating system CD in the event you are prompted to install files.
This page assumes that the Ethernet card is installed in the computer. Note: File and Printer Sharing is NOT supported.
To configure your computer settings with DHCP for Windows 2000 operating systems:
- Close all applications
- Click the START button in the lower left corner of your screen
- Select SETTINGS and click NETWORK AND DIAL UP CONNECTIONS
- Right-click LOCAL AREA NETWORK
- Click PROPERTIES
- Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click PROPERTIES
- Select the option next to Obtain and IP address automatically
- Select the option next to Obtain DNS server address automatically
- Click OK
- Click OK again
- Right-click MY COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES
- Click the NETWORK IDENTIFICATION tab
- If the WORKGROUP is not Edinboro or you need to name the computer, click PROPERTIES
- Type a name for your computer in the COMPUTER NAME field
- Select the option next to WORKGROUP and type Edinboro in the WORKGROUP field
- Click OK
- Click OK again
- Close any remaining opened windows and restart the computer.
