Ethernet Configuration for Windows NT
Before configuring your computer, please be sure you have the operating system CD in the event you are prompted to install files.
This page assumes that the Ethernet card is installed in the computer. Note: File and Printer Sharing is NOT supported.
To configure your computer settings with DHCP for Windows NT operating
systems:
- Close all applications
- Click the START button in the lower left corner of your screen
- Select SETTINGS and click CONTROL PANEL
- Double-click the NETWORK icon
- Click the PROTOCOLS tab
- Highlight TCP/IP Protocol
- Click the PROPERTIES button below the window
- A new window will open
- Click the IP ADDRESS tab
- Verify that your Network Adapter is selected
- Click the button labeled: OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY
(if prompted with a confirmation message, click YES)
- Click the WINS ADDRESS TAB
- Unselect Enable DNS for Windows Resolution, if selected
- Click OK
- A box will appear prompting to restart your computer
- Click No
- Right-click MY COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES
- Click the IDENTIFICATION tab
- If the WORKGROUP is not Edinboro or you need to name the computer, click CHANGE
- Type a name for your computer in the COMPUTER NAME field
- Select the option next to WORKGROUP and type Edinboro in the WORKGROUP field
- Click OK
- Click OK again
- A box will appear prompting to restart your computer
- Click Yes (if you are not prompted, restart your computer manually)
