Outlook Express 5 and up

1. In Outlook Express, go to Tools in the menu bar and select Accounts. Click on the Mail tab. Click the Add button and then News.
2. Enter your name in the Display name field. Click Next.
3. Enter your full email address in lowercase letters. Click Next.
4. Enter national-news.stargate.net in the News (NNTP) Server field. Place a check in "My news server requires me to log on." Click Next.
5. In the Account Name field, enter your Stargate email address in lowercase letters (e.g. johnsmith@stargate.net). Enter your password in the Password field. Do NOT check "Log on using Secure Password Authentication." Click Next.
6. Click Finish and then click Close to close the Accounts window. The news account will appear as a new branch in the left frame under the mail account.
7. You will be prompted to download newsgroups from the news account you have created. Establish an Internet connection and click Yes.

Netscape 4.72 and up

1. Open Netscape. On the menu bar, click Edit and select Preferences.
2. Click the + (plus sign) next to Mail and Newsgroups to expand the tree then click Newsgroup Servers.
3. Click the Add... button on the upper right.
4. Enter national-news.stargate.net in the Server field. The Port is 119. Place a check in "Always use name and password". Click OK.
5. Read news by clicking Communicator on the menu bar and selecting Newsgroups.
6. At the username prompt, type in your full Stargate email address in lowercase letters (e.g. johnsmith@stargate.net). Click OK.
7. At the password prompt, enter your password and click OK.
8. In Netscape Messenger, right-click the newsgroup on the left frame and select Subscribe to Newsgroups to download a list of newsgroups.
