To check modem using Hyperterminal.

1. Click on the Windows Start button.

2. Point to Programs > Accessories and click on Hyperterminal.

3. Double-click on the Hyperterminal icon.

4. In the Name text box, type 'testdial'

5. Click OK.

6. In the Phone number text box, type 123456789.

7. In the Area code text box, type 123.

8. Click OK.

9. Click on the Dial button.

10. If your modem does not dial, then it is not working properly. In this case, you should contact the manufacturer or vendor who sold the modem to you.

11. If your modem does dial, there is probably a configuration problem with Dial-Up Networking.
